 Punnamada Lake

Kayaking in Alleppey

​Kayaking is quite a famous activity in Kerala, especially Alleppey or Alappuzha which is located on the Laccadive Sea.  Visitors often kayak here in the backwaters of Kerala where one can see Cormorant and Kingfishers. Kuttanad

The Alappuzha - Changanassery Road that passes through the heart of Kuttanad is famous for itsscenic view of this locale. One gets to view a slice of the traditional country lifestyle. Visits to these villages can be a life changing experience. Especially during the harvest season, one finds farmers working in the fields most of the day. The early hours of the day brings to us the sight of women carrying sickles to the fields while men are busy sowing seeds and getting rid of weeds. Fields with rice stalks have legions of parrots hovering around them. One may also see darter birds flying around as they are known to be around the area surrounding the backwaters.

Revi karunakaran museum

Revi Karunakaran Memorial Museum is a privately owned museum located at Alappuzha

Built over a period of about three years, the RKK museum is noted for its architectural characteristics such as the frontal Greco-Roman columns and occupies an area of 28,000 sq ft. A unique feature of the museum is that visitors can see and experience the four major religions of India - Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism and Christianity - that are represented with equal prominence across the murals, ivory collection, Kerala room and other items on display.

Coir Weaving in Alleppey

The simple accessibility of raw materials and the presence of backwaters and canals appropriate for the wetting of green husk and availability of transportation are the main factors for the advancement of this industry. The husk of the coconut is beaten into fiber and after which it undergoes a different procedure to get the last item which might be either wonderful mats or other coir items. Most of the workers are women who are for the most part into yarn spinning sector and men are into the weaving sector.

 Vembanad Lake

Vembanad, also known as Punnamada is the longest lake in India, as well as the largest lake in the state of Kerala. With an area of 2033 square kilometers and a maximum length of 96.5 km, it is the second largest Ramsar site in India only after the Sunderbans in West Bengal. The Kumarakom Tourist Village has many house boating and holiday packages available. Tourists can also spot fascinating yet beautiful avian species that are thriving in the temperate season. For photographers, the lake is nothing less than a bountiful ride that will show them the most pristine form of nature. Surroundings of the lake are too-good-to-be-true.

Marari Beach

Marari Beach, a secluded little known beach destination in the Alappuzha, is located about 11 km from Alappuzha town.The fisherfolk of Mararikulam and their gentle ways of life are some of the attractions here. An evening stroll is one of the best hangouts here.  Marari offers endless miles of sandy beaches backed by swaying palms, virgin territory where you can experience the local charm and traditional Kerala hospitality at its best.

 Alappuzha Beach 

Alappuzha Beach is a beach in Alappuzha town and a tourist attraction in Kerala, India. Beach has an old pier which extend to sea is over 150 years old. Alappuzha beach host many events annually like Alappuzha beach festival, Sand art festival and many more On the beach, you can enjoy water activities like boating, parasailing, kayaking, and much more. If you are not much into water activities, you can unwind under the palm groves or picnic near the beach.

  Krishnapuram Palace 

The Krishnapuram Palace is a palace and museum located in Kayamkulam near Alappuzha in Alappuzha district, Kerala. It was built in the 18th century by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the Travancore kingdom A major attraction of this place is that it houses is one of the biggest mural paintings that can be found in all of Kerala. Known as the 'Gajendra Moksha', this mural painting covers an area of around 53 square feet and has a rich historical value attached to it. The double-edged sword Kayamkulam Vaal can also be found here.

Bay Island Driftwood Museum Alleppey

A museum to display a unique collection of superior quality driftwood sculptures of very high artistic value, prepared through a rare and innovative modern art form, Bay Island Driftwood Museum is located at the scenic village of Kumarakom. A visitor would find there a huge collection of root sculptures of various shapes and designs.
